It seems that my Wednesday headaches are moving to Tuedsday, today is a pretty bad one. My frustration level is high because even though we were out of town Saturday and went out allot I was so very careful at what I ate we stayed home Friday night and ate Salad instead of our usual pizza I ate shrimp cocktail at a restauraunt for dinner and had onion petals but would not eat the sauce because I was afraid of what was n the sauce. We went to a pizza place but had a meatball sub maybe the roll was too fresh ? Maybe yeast raised I also had bread Jake made and did realize until I ate it that it was sour dough not supposed to eat sour dough migraine trigger as well. OMG so sick of this but then this is my life. Would really prefer that Jake went to work for me tonight I will be good for nothing as I feel crappy I took toridal when I was shopping earlier and now took one more with a fiorinal may have to take a maxalt just slept a little but a dumb political call woke me up! God I hate those!! On better note when I was shopping I went and looked at some salad dressings I noticed that Newman's own dressings are MSG free and they do not have any junk in them this I am very pleased about. Awesome find!! I was sad to find that the foundation that I found that I really like remember me talking about it? Physcians formula? Love it goes on smooth covers so well I relooked at the label and DAMN it has Dextrose in it in other words MSG why i just can not understand this why do they put a food additive in cosmetics? Makes no sense to me i even googled it and got no answer. I went to Ulta today and looked at the foundations there and found several that have no parabens or MSG however they are so expensive. Around $29 - $39 so I will put money aside and get one when I can. I also found that the shampoo that I was using that had no parabens Mane and tail has MSG as well so that went in the trash I bought Organix you have to watch that brand the one I got is macadamia is hydrating i have used the conditioning treatment and was pleased my hair is very dry and it seems to work there is an oil that I use from them too i forget the name. The reason i say you have to watch that brand is I have noticed some parabens or MSG particularly the coconut so beware and always read your labels!! I hope this is my last headache this week but they always come in groups ugh!! Well tomorrow is halloween one of my favorite holidays!!!

Typical Friday i feel human again! Its been the typical routine of the past countless weeks feel terrible starting Tuesday possible Monday headache for sure Wednesday sometimes Monday through but for sure Wed. through Thursday Friday human again! Now there have been weeks that Fridays have not been so good but it was before I got a total handle on what I was eating. I question other things besides MSG namly nitrates I have not had enough of them to be sure of what they do to me so I just can not be sure I also think i have an issue with raw red onions this week I tested my self with a cooked white onion ring I think white cooked onions are ok. I am really thinking that the uncooked red onions can be an issue. I have not tried bananas or yogurts yet I bought a yogurt I will try one this week and see. So back to the MSG I went grocery shopping I was just shocked again at the stuff that have the MSG in it! Special K crisps, granola thins, fiber one bars, all of which I love, easy low cal snacks that I can take to work. they all have maltodextrin in them. And again i re looked at all the coffee creamers and all but the coffee mate natural have carageenan and I was stunned to see that crowley cottage cheese had carrageenan in it as well. No wonder I fell like crap ll the time if MSG truly is the culprit I have been over dosing in it to the hilt! Another thing that I think is an issue possibly is fresh rasied dough so pizza, doughnuts, bagels, fresh bakery bread, so its very hard to avoid pizza on the weekends. tonight I am making a fresh salad with MSG free dressing as I have said that I dont think provolone bothers me so i will have that instead of salami wich has nitrates i will have deli chicken and I have italian toast with bracatta with provolone on it and some garlic bread. also some ice cream so I don't have to feel deprived. Tomorrow will be a challenge as its my sons college homecoming weekend. going out ect. again i will do my best.
I now I just blogged but i must just vent as well. I went away for the weekend right and you would think i am a 90 year old i am sooooo tired. Ok I am lucky I have not been plagued with headaches all week and for this I am grateful but another part if this disease is extreme fatigue and depression the depression is starting today not sure if its because i am nearing ovulation I believe I did this last month as well. I have been trying so hard to start back up in my exercise routine for over a year i used to be in really good shape now its pathetic last years surgery and anemia wiped me out and I just cant get it back. Everytime I start back up I get these streaks of days where I am either so tired or I have a few days of headaches. Pretty damn pathetic that I can not be taken out of my routine at all and I react like this!!! I look like shit people at the store notice I come home and can not keep my eye open PATHETIC! then I have no ambition at all my house is a mess and I just do not care at all. i am not spacy like I have been in the past thank God but so tired like really by noon I really just wanted to say to my husband can I just go home like I really did not think I could make it until 2 or at least 1for my break, just pathetic. I came home determined not to sleep because the last two nights I can not fall asleep after napping then I watched talking dead with Jake on demand and forget it I could not keep my eyes open. I am wondering if the reason I could not fall asleep is because I have not been using the progesterone creme as regular travel screws me up. So I started that back up and will use my brain massage music. Its just friggin frustrating that i have to work so damn hard to feel normal. And friggin forbid I forget to do something use the wrong lotion eat a fucking cheeto ............ Ugh just depression talking and it gets to me sometimes!!!!!!!!! And now I cant even use my deodorant and my mother thinks I am allergic to my job the silly things that people say that must be the reasons that you have migraines and the question I hate the most "how is your head?" fucking fine? how is yours? I know they are trying to be nice but Jeepers i am more then my headaches!! I have 2 people in my life one is a close friend one is an acquaintance that can take one look at me and say oh you have a headache sorry that is all I need and say that you recognize it and move on. if I act stupid and i will laugh with me and i will laugh. So this morning I was getting ready for work thinking I need to blog about parabens I will explain in a minute. I wanted to look at my deodorant and see if parabens are listed on the ingredients I did not think they were I know that people do not like some of the other things in deodorants but my worry is parabens. Much to my surprise listed in the deodorant that I use is methodexoran this is another name for MSG!! OMG really?!?!?! also listed was gellitan again maybe I can see that a little because I use a form that is a cream form but gellitan also is another form of MSG so again REALLY?!?!?! A food flavor additive in a deodorant? WTH!! So here I am trying my best to eliminate it from EVERY food source and am applying it to my skin and any thing you appy to your skin is absorbed into your blood...AGAIN REALLY!!!! And here is the thing I sweat like crazy so a good deod. is hard to find I am so discouraged by this one! It is degree clinical strength. Nothing else works for me. So today I bought certain dry it only has 3 ingredients non of witch is parabens, its a roll on I am not thrilled with this but if it works awesome.
Ok so on to Parebens I first heard about them from my massage therapist and then when Dr. Oz talked about women with migraine one of the things mentioned was avoiding parabens. Parabens are a preserative that are in lotions, shampoo's, hair gels, sunscreens, ect. what they do is that when they are in the body they are released they act as estrogen. So women like me that have migraine do to hormones not really wise to add more to the body plus they have found that when they do biopsies of breast cancer they found some of them full of parabens. Do a google search of parabens and you can read more about it. Berts bees is Pareben free as is Kiss my face. So is Aveno Lotion not sure about the body wash. Today I did a search for a makeup foundation that was fun one that shocked me the eye primer was "not tested on animals paraben " so I thought awesome the whole line must be .........NOT! Then I looked at another line that was $38 for foundation and nope had parabens also it may say meythalparaben it just has it in the word. Any way physcian formula as far as I can see is paraben free makeup. Usually mineral makeup is. I got the foundation at target for about $12 not to shabby!! Another issue I will discuss later is red dies ugh!! Again in everything red dye #40 seems to be the worst i find that if I over load on Its Wednesday and shockingly I do not have a headache!! Now I have been so tired my trip was tiring and I think this is why. I did have a smidge of one yesterday but 2 tramadol and gone fast! Travel was hard as far as how do you stay with in the foods you want to eat and not make your host crazy??? My sister was very sweet and very good about trying to accommodate me I however made a mistake saying nestle creamer was free of MSG she said she just bought that problem solved. Well Coffee mate is Nestle and unless its the free and natural its not MSG free, MSG has sooooo many names its hard to figure out. In coffeemate its carageenan. As I have said before I have tried to stay away from nitrates as well and citrus, chocolate, nuts, onions, all of which were impossible on this trip. For the first time in 8 weeks I had orange juice and nitrates I seem to not be effected by these things so they may be on my safe list because I am not getting a bad headache and the 2 small ones that I have gotten I am thinking may be the small amounts of MSG I ate and also being off schedule. I have so far not gotten fuzzy or spaced out so this is good. The food thing is a mystery but I am thinking that for the most part I eliminate these foods most of the time I think they build up and once in awhile having them is ok and they better I get the better I am feeling. It is just my theory but it seems to be true. I think so far for me chocolate is Ok for me however doesnt mean that i should go overboard in it. I also seem to think that provolone cheese is OK according to that book the only cheese that is acceptable is American but you may be able to work in provolone and mozzarella. So any way a big challenge was was I was stuck in the airport my flight got canceled so had to sit there all day so I had my dinner at the bar at CHili's looked at the menu and NOTHING on there I could eat!! Most sandwiches(that I wanted) had ranch (loaded with MSG salads well the dressings have MSG) Soups forget about it the soup bases have MSG UGh!! So I got chili and it was terrible!! LOL But i learned the place to be waiting at the airport was at the bar with a couple of glasses of wine!!! Met some fun ladies and laughed about how dumb boys are!
So I am thinking I am on the right track and next time I will write about the lotions ect that I use. Woke up at 5 am ready to go this morning. What you have to understand about me is that before I took the chasteberry and the progesterone creme this just did not happen. Mornings were so hard sleep was hard. Now don't get me wrong when its Saturday and I am waking up at 5 which I have sometimes done not quite a fan but hey i am waking up good and have only woken up once with a headache since I started doing all this so its a huge improvement for me. Another thing I forgot to mention is that i use a mouth guard at night the dentist i used to work for made me one I clench my teeth somehow I manage to do it mostly on the right side this is why the muscles on my right side of my head get so irritated. Here is the thing though the mouth guard that was originally made for me had a high front so that i could not close all the way I was getting these really bad headaches on my right side my massage therapist said that the muscles were related to my front teeth was I having teeth issues? hmm so I was thinking about this if I am putting to much pressure on my front teeth this would make sense so I had another dentist friend grind that bar down so i have at least some area where I can not close all the way all the way around my mouth I should have this remade but its expensive. Again this disorder controls EVERYTHING i do! Well I leave today for my sisters I am very excited to go on a vacation she is having a halloween party so much fun! Air travel can make me get a headache i am traveling at night so this is good so I can go to sleep if I do get one. I learned that the snacks they give you on the plane have tons of MSG and lets face it they are not too yummy any way so i will bring my own.
Really good day today the best Thursday I have had in a very long time. Plus the headache that I had yesterday my usual Wednesday one was much more tolerable and did not make me spacy or completely wiped out for the day. Its funny I did get tweaks in my head today but they just went away and now I feel great. I can only attribute this to the fact that I really stayed away from trigger foods over the weekend I was not perfect but I did the best that i could I certainly can not live in a bubble. This coming weekend I go out of town and to a party it will be a complete challenge, again I will do the best that I can I will not be a "party pooper" but I will try and eat with in my limits if I can. One thing that i did last night is really set up the "big guns" when I went to bed I still had a lingering headache and again fear of rebound I am limiting pain meds so this is when I call in my "Big guns" when before I would take a Maxalt and call it a night. I took a whirlpool bath we are lucky enough to have a built in bath tub with jets I get the jets directed right at my neck and the trigger point in my shoulder sometimes this helps sometimes not so much. I have an MP3 of guided mediation it takes about 7 minutes so i used this along with a still point inducer. A still point inducer is a thing that you lay on you put it on the floor its very cool it looks kind of like 2 boobs haha! But you can put it in the back of your head the "still point" its very hard to explain but ir relaxes you head muscles and even drains your sinuses. You can get this at www.amazon.com this has helped me quite allot it helps too if you have fluid in your ears ect. look it up to explain it its very cool. Before I fall asleep i use peppermint oil on the areas that are annoying me normally my neck and into my shoulder and my eyebrow. Almost always takes the pain away for how long depends on how bad the migraine is. Then when I am about to go to sleep I use brain sync technology, its very cool I use one that helps with headaches it seems to help sometimes sometimes not so much. It uses music to change your brainwaves just do not over do it! I did that once and it gave me a killer headache!! I also got the mediation download from there it was free. Sometimes when I have used brain sync where I had a headache earlier in the day will begin to tingle with the music its weird. The down load was only $10 doesn't put any bad chemicals or medications in your body and its very relaxing so it cant hurt. when you read the science behind it, it is very interesting. I also have a theracane its a cool like cane thing with nubs that you can reach spots in your shoulder and neck that people with migraines seem to get aches and pains. Its allot I know I am just on a quest to feel normal!! maybe this can help someone else! This does control my life it is my life
Of course it was Tuesday and I had the start of my usual Migraine the difference is that I seen to not get spacy like I used to and seem to be able to get rid of it fairly easy even if it comes back hours later again I can get rid of it. I function pretty well however I would like to get rid of them entirely and i still get the doozy of one at least once a week. I read this book its called 'how to heal your Migraine' its interesting but I believe you have to take it with a grain of salt it has quite allot of good information in it I would recommend this book however I would not take everything it says and run with it. For example step one is that you are in rebound from your migraine meds if you take more than 2 a month i don't think so i looked it up all over the web and found on the mayo clinic web site that more than 8 of triptans a month could make you in rebound and that you should be sure to have 48 hours in between doses at times. Ok I think I fall into these guidelines he recommends you stop all triptans and all fiornal and other pain meds with the exception of Advil or Tylenol with the exception of 2 a month. UMM let me think about this NO!! SO i am an epic fail to the step one of the book!! Lets go to the diet part the list of the foods that he wants you to eliminate for 4 months are crazy you can not live a normal life its pretty much every migraine trigger every person has every had. BUT for me it was very helpful because i had no idea some of these things could be triggers. i honestly have tried this diet No go this is what you give up these are possible migraine triggers maybe you will find that these will help you. Caffine OH NO YOU DIDNT!! I cant do this one!! I have cut it down I drink half caff his reasons make sense i have cut sown on soda but when i have a migraine I NEED it! peanuts, chocolate,yogurt,onions, MSG(will discuss later), nitrates, citrus,pineapple, banana's, fresh raised yeast,(so doughnuts pizza fresh bread) , you can only have white vinegar, aged cheeses the only cheese you can have is American or ricotta or cottage or cream cheese.
So i have sort of followed this to a point i believe this is why i get headaches on Tuesday or Wednesday because over the weekend i do not have as much control over my food. i do the best I can but i can not live in a bubble. I do think MSG is an issue and OMG its everywhere i can live in a bubble at home but leave the house and all control is gone. i am beginning to think onion maybe an issue. here is the thing i have eliminated too much so now how do i know what are issues? That is the problem with this you wipe out too many things all at once . I do know that since I have eliminated MSG i am not so spaced out i do not get those days before a headache that I could stare at a wall for hours and want to be flicked in the forehead to focus. My husband got mad at me the other day because I put a tictac in my mouth and then read the ingredients freakn tic tacs have MSG REALLY!! I spit it out!! So as i still have 3-4 headaches a week I steel feel more in control less spaced out before this got very clumsy could stare at a wall i got soooo dumb i dont seem to get that way since i gave up MSG. i have not had bananas either or citrus or pineapple. But i have a feeling its the MSG. |
